Writing & Research

Ideas, Analysis
& Public Thinking

This strand of the platform is dedicated to writing, research, and public-interest thinking — drawing on direct experience in digital delivery, technology management, and systems design to explore the broader questions that matter.

Writing From
Inside the Work

Most writing about technology comes from outside it. This writing comes from someone who has lived inside complex delivery — managing Olympic-scale systems, leading distributed teams, and navigating the gap between ambition and execution.

The goal is not commentary for its own sake, but analysis that is useful — to practitioners, to organisations, and to anyone trying to understand how technology actually gets built and what it costs to do it well.

What the Olympics Taught Me About Project Risk

A practitioner's account of managing high-stakes delivery under Olympic deadlines — what real risk transformation looks like, and why most risk frameworks miss the human factors that matter most.

The Gap Between Digital Transformation and Digital Delivery

Organisations declare digital transformation, then struggle to actually deliver it. This piece examines what separates strategic intent from operational reality — and what it takes to close that gap.

Governing AI in Organisations That Can Barely Govern Their Own Processes

A frank look at the gap between AI governance frameworks and the operational reality inside most organisations — and why maturity in basic delivery is a prerequisite for responsible AI adoption.

How I Approach Research & Writing

Practitioner Perspective

Written from inside professional experience — not academic abstraction or surface-level commentary. Grounded in what actually happens on complex projects.

Rigour Over Speed

Each piece is researched and developed carefully. The goal is durable analysis, not reactive content that ages poorly.

Public Interest

Where relevant, writing here will address questions that matter beyond business — technology policy, digital rights, and how systems shape lives.
